ORIGIN STORY

Plot Twist

At 55 I found myself in transition, as I retired from corporate life & was ready for my next adventure. I  began building a life that not only allowed for, but flourished with, exploring new cultures, slow travel, & working remotely from anywhere. During that time, I learned to linger, noticing the details many people pass by on quick visits. The neighborhood café that fills before sunrise. The market stall vendor with a story behind every spice. Traditions quietly woven into everyday life. Some of life's best observations come from simply saying yes to the experience.

So began Soljourne. After several months in concept development with a trusted business partner, I headed out. Laptop in one hand, & an eye for local treasures in the other. I wasn't collecting souvenirs. I was noticing the small, extraordinary things that don't typically make it home: a spice blend from a market stall, brands locals use for healthcare, beauty, & home, a handwoven basket, a recipe passed down by an elder. I wanted a way to bring that feeling back, not as a photo, but as something you could hold, or experience.

At every step, Soljourne was built with a lagniappe philosophy in mind. Lagniappe has roots in the Andes, carried through Spanish & French, & made at home in Louisiana Creole culture, meaning a little something extra, given freely. While not a common word, we keep it in the forefront of our minds, woven into every decision.

Whether you're between adventures or you've never left home, Soljourne brings that little something extra to you.

REAL TALK

How does Soljourne handle customer concerns & issues?

If something arrives damaged, a shipment is delayed, or you simply have a question, reach out & Soljourne will work to make it right as quickly as possible. Real people, thoughtful support, & no endless ticket loops. The easiest way to reach us is the Contact button in the bottom right corner of every page. A link is also available in the bottom footer.

How does shipping work?

Orders placed by the 1st of the month are prepared for that month’s collection and typically ship by the 17th. Shipping is calculated at checkout. Tracking details are sent as soon as your collection begins its journey.

How are destinations chosen?

Most destinations are places Soljourne has visited, immersed in & fallen a little in love with. Where possible, collections grow from real cultural exchange, local conversations & time spent in markets, kitchens & everyday life. Member input & cultural moments shape the calendar too, so the world we explore together keeps expanding.

What if I want to give this as a gift?

Gifting is something close to our hearts & we intend to make the process seamless. Full gifting details and options will be available when our shop opens. Stay tuned.

How do I pause, skip or cancel my delivery?

Members can skip a month, pause future deliveries, or cancel anytime through our customer portal. We understand life gets busy. Our goal is to make this easy. full details will be available when our shop opens.

How can I learn more about each destination?

Every collection includes stories, cultural context, & ways to engage with the destination beyond what arrives at your door.

How can I purchase additional items from a collection?

Loved something in your collection & want more? A member portal is coming where you can purchase individual items from collections you've received. A public shop with destination-inspired pieces is on the way also. Members hear first.

What about dietary restrictions & food allergies?

We source with a vegetarian-friendly lens & the majority of items in each collection are plant-based. Some traditionally sourced products may contain ingredients like gelatin, honey, or dairy, so we can't guarantee every item will be vegetarian. Our recipe cards celebrate traditional preparations. We always encourage & welcome a plant-based protein swap.

We are also not able to guarantee that any item is free from specific allergens, including nuts, gluten, soy, or dairy. Some items are repackaged in-house & may not include full ingredient details. Please use your best judgment & reach out to us directly if you have a specific allergy concern.

If an item isn't right for you, we encourage passing it along to a friend or donating it to a local food pantry or community sharing shelf.
